A seventeen-year-old from a village in the Larnaca district has been seriously injured after his motorcycle crashed with a car yesterday afternoon on the old Limassol – Nicosia motorway.
According to a police statement, the accident occurred at around 4:30pm on Thursday.
A car driven by a 21-year old and carrying two passengers was involved in a collision with a motorcycle driven by the 17-year old – who was carrying an 18-year-old passenger – just before the Mosfiloti village entrance.
Both the driver, 17, and the passenger, 18, were injured in the incident. Following the collision the two motorcycle passengers were transferred by ambulance to Nicosia’s General Hospital.
The 18-year-old motorcycle passenger was found to have suffered fractured tibia and fibula in his left leg and was kept for treatment, while the 17-year-old driver was found to have suffered trauma to his neck and was taken into surgery.
According to doctors on duty the state of health of the 17-year-old is considered critical.
According to reports neither motorcycle passenger was wearing a protective helmet.
