LA La Land is the biggest movie of the moment but the posters could have looked very different as Emma Watson was in line for the lead role but lost out to Emma Stone for “being too demanding”.
According to sources, the Harry Potter actress was offered the role originally but was dropped after making a number of “crazy demands”.
Elsewhere, Miles Teller was originally lined up to take Ryan Gosling’s part in the music flick, which has garnered a record 14 Oscar nominations.
Both Emma and Miles are represented by casting agency CAA but were sensationally dropped after making a number of requests in terms of pay and rehearsals before production began.
One insider said: “Miles was offered $4 million to star in La La Land but he said he wanted $6 million.
“Watson was offered the lead female role, but she initially wouldn’t commit. Then she began making all these crazy demands, like rehearsals for the film must be done in London — for a film called ‘La La Land!’
“Producers finally cast Emma Stone — and once she was on board, Ryan Gosling jumped at the chance to work with her again.”
The source added: “Now both Miles and Emma Watson are raising hell with their agents for not securing the roles for them — even though it was the actors’ fault for being too demanding.”
However, another source said Emma decided not to take on La La Land as she was filming the upcoming Beauty and the Beast live action film.
According to Page Six’s sources, the actors are now fuming that they missed out on starring in the film after it received rave reviews and a record number of awards.
An insider explained; “Both Miles and Emma f****d themselves over for not doing La La Land.
“Now that it’s winning all the awards, they’re freaking out and looking for someone else to blame.”
