Cypriot MP accuses Marcos Baghdatis for turning his back on his country

DIKO MP Christos Orphanidis lashes out at Cypriot Tennis Champion Marcos Baghdatis accusing him of turning his back on his country for not playing against Turkey in the Davis Cup.

Mr Orphanidis released a statement saying that the Cypriot number 1 chose his career over his country and he should have participated in the Davis Cup clash against Turkey which Cyprus lost 4-1.

Furthermore the letter reads: ” It was disrespectful to his country, the opponent and also to the Tennis Association which has supported him throughout his career. Players all over the world whoever the opponent take great pride playing for there country, Turkey came here with their best players and our best player was absent.

Finally i would like to congratulate our manager Demetri Erodotou for the faith in our young players who done us proud”!
