Former Deputy Rikkos Erotokritou sentenced to 3,5 years in Prison

3,5 imprisonment is the sentence announced by the court on Wednesday for former deputy attorney general Rikkos Erotokritou.

Mr. Erotokritou was accused for a conspiracy with Andreas Neocleous law firm back in 2013. The judge announced that Andreas Neocleous son Panayiotis Neocleous, Erotokritou’s old law-firm partner Andreas Kyprizoglou will all receive imprisonment sentences. Specifically Mr. Neocleous will serve 2,5 years and Mr Kyprizoglou will serve 1,5 years and the law firm has been fined 70,000 euros.

Erotokritou was found guilty for his actions and the court decided to not keep all three men in custody until the day of prosecution.

Erotokritou has been found guilty on six counts of bribery of a public official, corruption, conspiracy to subvert the course of justice, conspiracy to defraud, and abuse of power. He faced a sentence of up to seven years in jail.

Panayiotis Neocleous and the Andreas Neocleous law firm were found guilty on five counts of bribery of a public official, corruption, conspiracy to subvert the course of justice, and conspiracy to defraud. The lawyer, too, faces a seven-year jail term, while the law firm faces a fine.

Mr. Erotokritou after the decision of the court had been announced he made a statement saying: ” I thank the court for its decision”.
