Revenue from tourism increases by 6,8% in November

Revenue from tourism in November 2017 amounted to € 89.5 million compared to € 83.8 million in the corresponding month of the previous year, recording an increase of 6.8% on the basis of the results of the Passenger Survey of the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

For the period January – November 2017, revenue from tourism is estimated at € 2,583.3 million compared to € 2,312.5 million in the corresponding period of 2016, recording an increase of 11.7%.

The increase in revenue in November was mainly due to the increase in arrivals that reached 16.5%, as announced previously by the Statistical Service.

At the same time there was a decrease of 8.3% in the tourist expenditure per person, which in November 2017 amounted to €618.68 compared to €674.46 in the corresponding month of the previous year. The expenditure per person/per day for November 2017 compared to November 2016 also recorded a decrease of 10.2%.

In November 2017 a decrease of 23.4% was recorded for the expenditure per person for tourists from the United Kingdom (from €854.75 in November 2016 to €654.98 in November 2017), 8.4% decrease from Russia (from €696.00 to €637.51 this year) and 14.8% decrease from Israel (from €496.62 to €423.00 this year).

The expenditure per person/per day for tourists from the United Kingdom recorded a decrease of 18.7% (from €70.64 in November 2016 to €57.45 in November 2017), the expenditure per person/per day for tourists from Russia decreased by 17.0% (from €80.00 to €66.41) and for tourists from Israel also decreased by 14.8% (from €130.69 to €111.32).

The expenditure per person for the period of January – November 2017 reached €727.03 compared to €746.30 in the corresponding period of the previous year, recording a decrease of 2.6%. The expenditure per person/per day for the period of January – November 2017 compared to the period of January – November 2016 also recorded a decrease of 2.6% (from €78.56 to €76.53).
