Archbishop undergoes cancer surgery in London

The Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos II underwent last night a labaroscopic surgery to remove malignant tumours from his liver. 

According to information from the British capital the operation was successful. Following the surgery the Archbishop and head of the Church of Cyprus was transferred to his room where he would continue his recovery before returning to Cyprus.

The operation at a London clinic began at 9 o’clock Cyprus time on Tuesday night and was completed after four hours.

The Church is expected to make an announcement later today. His Beatitude is expected to stay in London for 10 days depending on his post-operative condition.

The Archbishop is accompanied in London by his deacon, Kyprianos Kountouris.
