Former Cyprus President Demetris Christofias is in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.
Demetris Christofias was admitted to hospital on Saturday with severe respiratory problems and according to the Cyprus News Agency he was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit where his condition Is currently critical.
The President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades visited the hospital where Christofias is currently treated and posted the following message on Twitter.
“Dimitris Christofias and I lived together from the beginning the politics. When you face reality you realize that the rivalries are small. My wish is to overcome this ordeal and for whatever it takes, we will be by his side”.
Christofias served as President from 2008 to 2013. He previously was general secretary of AKEL (1988-2008). He also served as President of the House between 2001 to 2008.
