Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades received Israel’s President Reuven Rivlin at the Presidential Palace, on Tuesday morning.
The national anthems of the two countries sounded by the police philharmonic orchestra upon Rivlin`s arrival.
During his official welcome by President Anastasiades the Israeli President reviewed the presidential guard of honour and laid a wreath before the statue of the late Archbishop Makarios and first President of Cyprus.
Anastasiades and Rivlin have a tête-à-tête meeting followed by talks between the two countries` delegations. Later on, they will make statements to the press.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromou and Presidential Commissioner Photis Photiou were present at the official welcoming ceremony.
Anastasiades will host an official lunch in honour of President Rivlin, attended by President of House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris and Cyprus’ political leadership. Later on, Rivlin will also visit the monument of the Cyprus-Israel friendship.
