President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades received on Monday in Nicosia Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias.
In statements after the meeting, Kotzias told journalists that they discussed about the international developments, the meetings they held with the US leadership, as well as about the continuation of the Cyprus talks and how to move forward.
“The meetings with the President are always constructive and friendly”, he pointed out.
The Greek Foreign Minister will also hold consultations with his Cypriot counterpart, Ioannis Kasoulides and will be received later on by President of the House of Representatives Demetris Syllouris.
Later in the afternoon, he will hold separate meetings with leaders of the Cypriot parties.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and occupied its northern third. UN led talks between the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot communities resumed in May 2015 with a view to reunite the island under a federal roof. The talks were interrupted in mid February by the Turkish Cypriot side.
UN Secretary General`s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide is set to host a dinner for Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci next Sunday, April 2, at Ledra Palace hotel, in Nicosia. Sunday will be the first time the two leaders will meet again after the interruption of the talks by Akinci.
