Apollon win in Vienna, Trickovski saves AEK!

It was a typical European night for Apollon Limassol! 

The Limassol side secured a vital 2-1 victory against Austria Vienna in Austria on Thursday night and have the perfect result for there second leg showdown in a week’s time in Cyprus.

Sasa Markovic from the penalty got the all-important away goal early on in the game in the 14th minute and minutes before halftime Austria Vienna also won a penalty and got the equaliser with Florian Klein.

But it was Apollon who had the last laugh in the game and got their noses in front yet again this time with Serge Gakpe after a brilliant ball from Yiannis Yianniotas who was undoubtedly one of Apollon’s best players.

Now Sofronis Avgousti’s side will return to Cyprus and will want to finish the job on home soil.

In the other match earlier in the day AEK Larnaca drew 1-1 with Belgian side Gent at the AEK Arena.

Ivan Trickovski for yet another game finds the net and saves AEK from a first-ever European defeat at the AEK Arena, AEK were trying so hard to get the equaliser, Roman Yaremchuk got the goal for the belgian side which makes them favorites for the second leg in Belgium however AEK Larnaca have proven that they will not go down without a fight and Europa League qualification is still in the balance.
