Devastating news: Former Anorthosis star dies age 45! (photo)

Greek footballer Giorgos Xenides has tragically died at the age of 45 after suffering a heart attack.

Xenides who played with Anorthosis from 2004 to 2006 was one of the “Old Lady” most influential players when the team from Famagusta won the title and the next year faced Turkish side Trabzonspor in the Champions League qualifiers.

A game that would be engraved in Cypriot football history when Timouri Kestbaia’s side managed to qualify by escaping from an extremely hostile away clash in Turkey.

Xenides funeral will take place on Monday afternoon.
